Sacred Heart Camp Listings 2008
Thank you to everyone who submitted an application to volunteer at Sacred Heart Camp this summer. Unfortunately, we were unable to accept everyone this year who wished to volunteer their time with the wonderful children from the Sacred Heart School in the South Bronx. There are many factors that go into selecting counselors, including the number of campers that we expect to have attend camp this summer, as well as a conscious effort this year to allow new volunteers to have the chance to experience Esopus, and Sacred Heart Camp in particular.
Sacred Heart is truly a unique camp. While our children may not face the same challenges as other children who visit Esopus during the summer, they have an energy and spirit that is unparalleled. Our children challenge our volunteers each day to "keep up", and to "wow" them with their creativity. For those of you who have been accepted, I hope you're up to the challenge. We look forward to working with you this summer. For those of you on the waiting list, if the number of campers exceeds our current projections, or our needs otherwise change, we will be in touch with you. And if we do not call upon you this summer, we encourage you to apply again next year. Finally, for those of you who have worked Sacred Heart Camp before and not asked to return this year, please accept our gratitude for all of the hard work that you have put into camp in years past. We look forward to working with you again in the future.
